A driver was killed early Wednesday morning when a pickup truck slammed into a guardrail on a freeway interchange in Sherman Oaks.

The crash was reported at 3:05 a.m. on the transition road from the northbound 101 Freeway to the southbound 405 Freeway, California Highway Patrol Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.

The victim — whose name, gender and age were not immediately known — was pronounced dead at the scene.

All lanes but one on the northbound 101 Freeway and one lane on the southbound 405 Freeway were closed following the crash and a Sigalert was issued, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Only one lane of the northbound 101 remained closed as of about 8:40 a.m. and the transition road was re-opened about 11 a.m., the CHP reported.
