A man, a woman and two children — one 2 years old, and the other 6 days old — were found dead after a shooting on Wednesday evening, May 27, in North Hills, authorities said.
The shooting in a residential area occurred around 7:50 p.m. on the 16000 block of Londelius Street.
Officer Charles Miller, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department, said it was a murder-suicide and declined to elaborate.
Other circumstances, including a motive for the killings, were unclear.
On Thursday, May 28, the Department of Medical Examiner for Los Angeles County identified three of the deceased: Khajag Basmajian, 31; Alec Basmajian, 2; and Ella Basmajian, 6 days old.
Their relationships had not been released yet.
Wednesday night, police and fire officials put up crime-scene tape as they responded to the report of a shooting.
“I was in my bed when I heard a gunshot,” next-door neighbor Boni Dizon said. “It’s a quiet place, peaceful, very peaceful.”
There had never been any problems next door that he knew of. He didn’t often see the residents but had never heard any arguments, he said.
A few cars sat in the driveway of the home. Small planes flew overhead. The residential neighborhood, mostly full of single-family homes, is a few miles from the Van Nuys Airport.
