Sierra van der Brug covers crime and public safety for the Southern California News Group. She is a Los Angeles native and a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in communication with minors in professional writing for journalism and English. She previously interned at the Santa Barbara Independent, where she reported on Central Coast news.
