Voters in Los Angeles County may begin to receive their ballots for the June 2 primary election as early as today, April 30, and, if they wish, could even cast their votes and return their ballots at a drop box the same day.
The L.A. County registrar’s office will send out vote-by-mail ballots starting today, and while not everyone will receive theirs the same day, it’s possible some will.
By law, local election offices must start to mail out ballots at least 29 days before an election. But L.A. County, which has nearly 6 million registered voters, has traditionally sent out ballots before the deadline, said Michael Sanchez, a spokesperson for the L.A. County registrar’s office.
Drop box locations can be found at lavote.gov/dropbox.
In-person early voting will be available starting Monday at the L.A. County registrar’s main office at 12400 Imperial Highway in Norwalk.
Voters may also vote in person at vote centers.
Some of these centers will open for early voting beginning May 23 — including on Memorial Day — and all vote centers will be open starting May 30, the weekend before the election.
For vote center locations, check online at locator.lavote.gov beginning Monday.
