At the request of the Orange County Fire Authority, buses from the Orange County Transportation Authority helped evacuate residents from an assisted living facility on Beach Boulevard.
The residents needed to be evacuated due to a potential explosion that could produce a toxic cloud on Friday following a malfunction in a 34,000-gallon tank containing an industrial chemical used in plastics and manufacturing at an aerospace plant in Garden Grove, officials said.·
Two regular, 40-foot buses, plus three OC ACCESS paratransit buses helped move people from the assisted living facility in Stanton to a safe location, outside the evacuation zone, said Eric Carpenter, an OCTA spokesperson.
“The OCTA emergency response team is actively monitoring the situation and coordinating with first responders and officials overseeing the incident,” Carpenter wrote in an emailed response Friday afternoon.

At least four OC Bus regular routes have been affected by the toxic release incident in Garden Grove. These bus routes are being detoured around the evacuation area. These include: Routes: 25, 54, 29 and 529, Carpenter said.
“We continue to monitor the situation and stand ready to help in any way possible,” added Carpenter.
